La Roche Posay Anthelios UVmune 400 Tinted vs. Oil Control Fluid: What’s better for oily skin?

Hello beauties,

My skin has so much character, with some days being oily and others dry. As a beauty enthusiast, I love experimenting with various products to achieve a balanced skin. Throughout my journey, I’ve discovered that my skin prefers products with minimal or no fragrance, and the simpler the better. One thing I never compromise on is sunscreen. A few years back, I came across a photo of a woman with half of her skin protected by sunscreen and the other half without, and it made me realize the importance of being consistent with sunscreen application. Since then, I’ve made it a habit and I feel great about it, because I never, ever skip sunscreen.

But having oily skin can be a challenge when it comes to finding the perfect sunscreen because this type of product tends to leave the skin more oily. Today, I’m excited to share my opinion about two sunscreens that I have, and hopefully I can help you decide which one is better for you. I’m talking about the La Roche Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Oil Control Fluid and the Tinted Fluid.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios is a sweetheart for many people because they have sunscreens for everybody with ultimate protection and a long UVA filter. In Europe, you can find this brand in pharmacies, and it’s commonly prescribed and advised by doctors for people with dermatological problems, such as acne and rosacea.

As a pharmacist, I confidently recommend this brand for its effective protection at affordable prices. I use the Anthelios UVmune 400 tinted fluid for almost a year and I have to say that it’s in my list of favorite tinted sunscreens.

Why do I love the Anthelios UVmune 400 Tinted Fluid?

It does not make my skin oilier, plain and simple. This sunscreen is perfect for oily skin. It does not cause breakouts, and the color is just right for me. Initially, the color may appear a bit dark for my skin tone, but it adjusts within a few minutes and matches perfectly. It’s like applying a filter – my skin looks healthier, comparable to using an Instagram filter. Since discovering this sunscreen, I have stopped using foundation. That’s how much I like it.

Is the Anthelios UVmune 400 oil control fluid better?

I had the opportunity to try the Anthelios UVmune 400 oil control fluid and I decided to give it a go to see if it’s as good as the tinted fluid. However, it didn’t meet my expectations. At the end of the day, I find that my skin feels oilier with this sunscreen compared to the tinted fluid. Despite the expectation that they should perform similarly, they definitely don’t. I wish the Oil control fluid could live up to the excellence of the tinted oil.

I appreciate the product, but it fell short of my expectations. Although it pledges a dry touch finish and 12 hours of mattifying effect, it did not deliver on these promises for me. I have to admit that I like it immediacy afterbpoly it, because it provides me a healthy glow but at the end of the day the skin is oily. Additionally, it claimed not to sting the eyes, yet it did so for me. This was particularly inconvenient as I experienced a burning sensation in my eyes. I did not encounter these issues when using the tinted fluid.

If you have oily skin and you like tinted sunscreens, the Anthelios 400 Tinted Fluid is a good option for you. If you have combination skin and prefer a sunscreen that provides a healthy glow, the Anthelios Oil Control Fluid is for you!
