I’ve been trying to decide when it would be the right time to write about this foundation. I love Clinique’s products, they are good quality and the price is not the worst considering the brand success.
I already wrote about the Clinique’s Even Better Glow, and despite the fact that I bought the wrong shade for my skin color, I can say that it is one of the best foundations that I have ever experienced.
But the Superbalanced foundation makes me a little bit mad. Why? you ask. Well, the thing is that whenever I use this foundation, it behaves differently, making me see good and bad things. Unfortunately for my skin type is more the ‘bad’.
First, let me tell you a little about the information available in the box:
Allergy Tested. 100% Fragrance-Free. Moderate coverage. Natural matte finish.
‘Silky, ultra-fluid formula slips on, blends seamlessly. Oil-free’.
It’s available in 22 shades, with a lot of tones and sub-tones. Mine is the 05 Silk Ivory (VF-N). It’s perfect for the winter but in the summer it’s a little bit to light for me.
The product comes in a semi-opaque glass bottle. It’s really pretty. It may look little but it brings the normal 1fl.oz/30mL. For me, the big fail is the lack of pump. It’s always a mess when I apply it. I normally take a little bit to the back of my hand and then apply.
The paper box, it’s also beautiful. Its minimal (white with some rose and yellow flowers), but I like the paper’s quality (yeh Clinique!).
In the box, we can read that the foundation has an ultra-fluid formula but, I think that it’s a little bit thick. So you can understand: imagine an old ketchup glass bottle, do remember the effort that was to get some of the product? Well, it’s the same! That’s the best I can do…
It’s very easy to apply (after the mess and the struggle that is taking the foundation of the bottle). I advise you to shake it well before using.
Humm…I’m very torn about this product. The first time I used it I thought it was amazing. But after the 3rd time, I was so disappointed. It promises a dewy natural finish. It didn’t fully satisfy the dewy part but it does have a natural finish. I have combo skin and I found that it would really cling to the dry patches that look like crumbs in my nose.
I tried to apply it with my fingers, brush, and beauty blender but the result is always the same. After two hours the texture of my skin is horrible. I also noticed that it oxidizes a little bit.
Now, I have to be honest and say that it provides a great coverage! It does balance out the more oily parts of my face, but the drier parts….oh my! Another good thing that I noticed was that it does not cause any unwanted breakouts on my skin as other ‘big reputation’ foundations do.
It has an SPF of 15, which is not enough if you have very sensitive skin or if you are going to be a lot of time on the sun but enough for a normal day. (I see so many foundations without an SPF, so thank you Clinique for this attention).
For those who have sensitive skin, I would recommend giving this product a try. The smell is very light, a lot like sunscreen, so you don’t need to worry about that. This may be also great for someone with oily skin. But despite being advised to dry combination skin, if you have dry spots like me, then I recommend you to try this a few times before buying it.

Well, I tried to be fair in this review because we all have different skin types. Have you tried it? If yes, do you like it?
