Last week I talked about my experience when I was invited to do a ‘mini’ skincare treatment on Sephora, you can read it here. One of the masks that they used (one of the four) was the Peel-off mask radiance & smoothing by Sephora Collection. This is a new product available on Sephora (it was launched this month).
I didn’t buy it right at that moment but I saw such great results that I wait a few days and went there to buy this product (okay, I admit… I bought two products).
According to the information on the box:
‘This mask gives your skin a veritable shot of radiance!
- This peel-off mas instantly evens out the skin-tone and restores its glow. Well cleaned and smoother, the skin looks beautiful, the complexion more luminous.
- Its formula contains a cocktail of grapefruit seed extract and Vitamin E, known for their antioxidant properties.’
What is promised…
(According to their studies):
skin is instantly smoother: 84%
after 2 weeks, skin is smoother: 88%
after 2 weeks, complexion is brighter: 86%
How to use
Use 1 or 2 times per week. And there is the trick, according to them, we should apply a thin layer over the entire face. It’s difficult, people! It’s a struggle! The product has the consistency of what I think would be melted rubber. As soon as the product comes in contact with the skin, it starts to ‘dry down’ and it becomes increasingly difficult to put on a thin layer.
If you make it too thin, it will be difficult to take all at one time, you will need to be taking piece by piece. If it’s too thick, then it won’t dry down to the right consistency.
But honestly, it’s a little bit messy. I first try to apply it with the help of a spatula but using the fingers is easier and with a little training, it becomes even easier.
Avoid the eye area (including brows) and the mouth. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, until the film is completely dry. Peel the film off and if needed use warm water to rinse away residues.
After the mess that it’s applying this product with an even layer, everything becomes easy. Its creamy texture dries quickly to become a film that adheres to the face, making it easy to peel off to remove impurities. I felt my skin clean, radiant and calmer. Lately, I’ve been feeling my skin more reactive to products and this mask calmed my skin, a lot. According to the website, you can use this mask if you have normal, dry, oily or combination skin. I have combination skin and I didn’t feel it greasy on my oily zone and drier on my dry spots, so I think this is benefit for a lot of skin types. I really like this mask, it’s affordable and you see immediate results (my favorite kind of mask).
* You can buy it on a Sephora for $20.00 (13,95€ in Portugal) and it brings 60ml.
