[Urban Decay] Naked Petite Heat Palette

Hello beauties,

If you follow us on Instagram you might notice a few weeks ago my complain about the price of this palette. I complained but I didn’t resist and bought it (that’s how I am). I had it in my hand and I thought ‘It’s so pretty’ and my consumer neurons did all the job.

Did I need it? No. But I don’t have the full-sized Naked Heat Palette and this is a good way to test their pigmentation. See? Justification. (Or I like to think so)

Now let’s be real.

Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat Palette ($29.90) is a new, limited edition palette that contains six ‘new’ eyeshadows in matte and demi-matte finishes – five matte shades and one demi-matte highlighting shade (Inhale).

As I said, I don’t own the original Naked Heat Palette ($54.00) so I think that this was a good investment, however, if you own the bigger one already, this isn’t a necessary purchase. Why? Doesn’t this hold all-new shades? I don’t think so. I have a friend that has the original palette and I have to be honest and say that to me, 90% of the shades are very (very) the same or at least very similar.

Let’s get math in action:

The original palette contains 12 shades, each one brings 0.05 oz./1.3g and the petite brings 6 shades with only 0.04 oz./1.3g. So, the original sells each shade for $4.50 and the petite for $4.80. So the original is less expensive. But I was looking for a small palette to be in my purse and the original is very big to be carried away on my many trips.

The petite palette arrives in a plastic case with a big sized mirror inside. As the original palette, you can read the name of the shades directly on the palette which I always find very helpful.

The shades…

Final thoughts

The shades are beautiful and they are exactly what I was looking for. Some are very powdery but when you apply, it has no fallout and applies and blends very easily. The consistency is soft and a little creamy without being chunky.

One thing that I noticed is that I have to be quick because if I took too many time, the matte shadows can turn a little bit drier, making it more difficult to blend. But my secret is to apply just a little and build it. Don’t apply too much at one time.

I like to use the semi-matte highlighter on the corner of my eye and above the brow. It gives a beautiful shine and the illusion of a more open eye. Don’t apply too much, or it can turn a little chunky.

I don’t use a specific primer, I like to use my concealer as a primer and then I use a little bit of setting powder because I have oily eyelids. If you have dry eyelids you may need a primer, or you can try to apply just a little bit at the time as I do.

Overall, I am happy with this purchase. After 6 hours I still have my eyes beautifully packed with a lot of eyeshadow, without moving out.

Now, shall we talk about the big elephant in the room? You only can do a certain look with these colors, there’s no variety. But I really think this colors suits almost every skin tone.

In the end, if you have the original palette, I think you can pass this one because of the shade similarity. And if you are on a budget, let’s not forget the price…

But if you like these type of shades and you want a good and pigmented palette, then this is a good choice for you!

You can buy it here.
