When the weather begins to warm up, all that we can think is vacations, right? And vacations means beach, palm trees, glowing skin, and scents – like coconut! Don’t worry because Marc Jacobs Beauty has you covered with the Coconut Collection, that is meant to make you glow.
The original collection launched last year and included the O!Mega Coconut Perfect Tan bronzer, Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter and the Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist, but now, the brand added some new products to the line.
The new collection includes a new version of the Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($44) and the O!Mega bronze Coconut perfect Tan bronzer ($49), but it will also include an eyeshadow palette ($49) with seven new eyeshadow colors and a setting powder ($44).
I was very excited when this collection launched at the end of April (you can buy the product on the Marc Jacobs beauty website or on Sephora).
In Portugal, a lot of products were sold out immediately but I grabbed the Finish Line Perfecting Coconut Setting Powder to try – honestly, I’m still drooling for the Eyeshadow Palette but I’m waiting for that to be available (fingers crossed).
According to the website, the Finish-Line Perfecting Coconut Setting powder…
‘Invisible Finish. Seamless Setting. Coconut Delight.
Finish Line Perfecting Coconut Setting Powder instantly blurs and perfects your complexion, while setting your makeup with a soft-matte finish for up to eight hours. The loose translucent powder features five forms of coconut and cocoa butter, melting in undetectably for a healthy and hydrated look, not dry or chalky. So lightweight and creamy, the innovative formula layers seamlessly so your makeup stays looking fresh from start to finish. The mess-free interior mesh ensures the ideal amount of powder is released for application—perfect for travel or on the go’.
I was expecting more for a pricey product. The outsider paper box is very simple and after a couple of hours in my bag, stayed in a very bad shape. The inside packaging is made of frosted plastic with a white cap. I was expecting at least some glass.
Inside it has a mesh dispenser that makes getting the powder out a million times easier and with very little waste.
Although it says that’s invisible, this is not truly an invisible powder, because it has a very faint yellow undertone but after applied, I don’t see any dramatic change in my skin tone. I think this will depend on your own skin tone.
It applies very nicely. I noticed a matte effect without the dry effect that some powders do. When I use this, I don’t feel the need to do touch-ups on every hour. I also can see some pore blurring, making my skin almost flawless.
I tried to bake it on my under eyes but I didn’t like the finish, then I tried with a small brush (my favorite method to apply powder on my under eyes), not bad but I still didn’t like it. The best way is to apply this with a médium fluffy brush with pressing motions. The real magic happens after a couple of minutes when you start to feel your skin really soft and healthy.
If you have dry skin, I think you also may like this because it didn’t enhance any dryness on my dry spots.
The first time that I tried it on my hand I thought this would be bad for my under eyes because it’s not so finely milled as the Laura Mercier but I was wrong, I like it for my under eyes mostly because it’s almost the only powder that doesn’t dry my under eyes. This also has a slight coconut scent but it’s not over the barrier.
I also have to say that a little goes a long way.
There’s almost nothing bad to say about this powder, it leaves my face soft and nice. It doesn’t feel cakey and I don’t see any powder residue on the skin.
The question is : Is there any powder as good as this but less expensive? Yes!
Because, let’s be real and talk about the finaces: this product is very expensive!! It’s available at Sephora right now and retails for $44.00 for only 0.28oz./8g! AU!
