If I asked you what’s the most talked foundation of all time, I’m pretty sure that your answer would be Estee Lauder’s Double Wear, right? Well, This Foundation never called my attention, although it’s very hyped for combo/oily skin and everyone says that’s the best when it comes to duration on the skin, it never really made me run and buy it!
I tried the Double Wear a couple years ago and I honestly don’t remember for sure what I thought about it, so I thouth that was the time to try it again and see what everyone talks about!
WHAT IT CLAIMS?
- Oil-Free & Oil-Controlling
- Non-Acnegenic; Won’t Clog Pores
What I really think about it
Well, I have to be fair and say that I tried a sample that doesn’t exactly match my skin shade but when well blended it turned out acceptable. If you have difficult to find your exact shade in foundation, then I have good news because the double wear is available in 56 different shades (from light to deep and with three different undertones: cool, neutral and warm)!! And yes, I’m not wrong…56 shades!!

I don’t know why I have not tried this foundation before. It really looks great on the skin, it leaves the skin like a doll. It has medium coverage (but you can build it to full). I don’t think that it’s lightweight because I feel like I have foundation on the skin, but it’s not uncomfortable. It covers imperfections really well and doesn’t oxidize (which is great). It’s long wear and I only felt the need to use powder to set it and it lasted until the night – 8 hours (in a hot day).
After 5 hours
Now the bad, it transfers (not as much as the Lancome Teint Idole) and it’s so difficult to remove at the end of the day! I cleaned my skin with a makeup wipe, micelar water, and even when I used the Clarisonic I still took foundation, how??! I cleaned the Clarisonic brush a couple of times but I can’t take the color of it, the white fibers of the brush are now colored with the foundation color.
I don’t know if this is usual or if I’m the only one feeling this, but overall it was really difficult to feel the skin clean on the day that I used this foundation. I don’t see myself using and removing this foundation everyday!
Because of that, and for me, this foundation is perfect to use on special days, when you want a doll face look or if you want something that will last a lot of time without a lot of touchups. But for every day makeup, I prefer other options that are easier to remove because I don’t have the time nor the patience.
The Double Wear retails for $42 (USA) and 43€ (Portugal.)
