I love expensive foundations but there are some cheap foundations (like Maybelline or Catrice) that I am passionate about and that do a really good job when it comes to makeup. The important thing is to choose a good foundation not according to the price but according to the fact that’s Good, or the result can be a face full of blemishes.
As I said, there are some affordable foundations that are very good but what we have to keep in mind is that the expensive foundations normally have ingredients that will take care of the skin which is always good if one of your worries is the skin well being. I’m almost 30 years old so I worry a lot about my skin (girls, if you don’t have problematic skin, then congratulations because you won the lottery!) I want to keep it young and in a good state! The makeup plus skincare reason justifies my love for expensive foundations and all the money that I often spent on this type of product!
But this time I did not spend a penny because I got a sample from Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau foundation. This product is not new and although it is not a much-talked foundation, I always wanted to try it since it was launched into the market.
‘Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau turns the dream of a perfect foundation into reality – so skin-fusing and natural that it can’t be felt, can’t be seen. It’s fresh, light texture glides onto the contours of the face like a second skin to enhance beauty naturally, without artifice, all day long.
Guerlain Technology, Bio-Fusion micro-mesh, an unprecedented combination of contouring and smoothing stretch fibers with natural silk and linen fibers that are in total affinity with the skin. Hydrating agents bring softness and comfort throughout the day’.
Lingerie de Peau comes in 18 ultra-natural shades for every skin tone: cool, neutral and warm. It comes in a 30ml pump dispenser, has an SPF of 20 and it’s totally free of parabens.
I tried the shade 03N Natural and although in the beginning, it looked too dark to me, after a couple of minutes the color blended into my skin color and it turned perfect.
I really like the fragrance of this foundation (as well as all the Guerlain products that I tried), it has a delicate floral scent that stays for a long time. This can be a disadvantage for many people, but for me, it is definitely an advantage!
This foundation has a natural finish and I dare to say semi-matte that I really liked. The foundation is sold as a full coverage product but I think it has a light coverage that can be built to a medium. Personally, I do not like foundations with full coverage and with this foundation, I can see my skin but also an improved version of my skin, you know?
It is moisturizing and a little glowy when applied so I use da powder to set the skin. I think it behaved really well on my combo/oily skin (it is sold for normal/dry skin). I have tried specific bases for my skin type that did not perform as well as this. I liked the fact that I felt the skin moisturized during the day without a greasy feeling. I think normal or dry skin will love this foundation!
When I applied it, I did not like it very much, because I noticed an accentuation of some dry patches, I felt that something was missing, but after a few hours (and honestly, without big expectations) I went to see myself in the mirror and I loved what I saw. The pores were barely visible and the dry patches were completely invisible. The texture of the skin was wonderful and looking almost ‘perfect’.
Right after application (different lights):
After 4 hours:
Now let’s talk about the elephant in the room, if you see the photos you’ll see that the big disadvantage of this foundation is undoubtedly its ‘lifetime’ in the skin because after 4 hours I had no product left in the nose and some places on the chin. Maybe if I applied more powder on these specific areas, would I saw a difference? I don’t know.
Did it make me curious? Undoubtedly, I want to try again but for now, is not a product that takes my sleep. Nothing beats my Guerlain’s Teint de Jolie Terracotta (click here if you are curious), that is my favorite Guerlain foundation (maybe my favorite foundation of all the foundations) and when I finish mine, you can be sure that I will buy another one!
The Guerlain Lingerie de Peau is available online and in physical stores that sell Guerlain and has a price that is around 61€/$63.
Have you tried this foundation? Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite Guerlain foundation?
