Fenty beauty | Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation – REVIEW!

Hello beauties,

It took a while but here is the review of the new Fenty Beauty foundation! Can we still say it’s new? In the world of beauty, the new sometimes become outdated but I think this foundation is still new!

Our dear friend Rihanna has decided to launch a new foundation, the Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation which as the name implies is a foundation made for people with normal to dry skin.

I’ll admit one thing, I must be one of the few people who didn’t like the first Pro Filt’r foundation (Soft Matte Longwear Foundation). Joana loved it and is one of the foundations that she uses the most (read the post here) and me, a person with combo/oily skin should love that foundation but I hated it! First, because it showed all the fine lines (the ones I knew and others that I didn’t), after a few hours my skin became too oily, it had the opposite effect as expected, it oxidized like crazy on me and I had a big difficulty on blending it.

So when I learned that Fenty was going to launch a new foundation, I was very curious because, despite having combo/oily skin, it is also dehydrated and I often notice that my skin prefers a more glow foundation than a matte one.

I decided to go get a sample from Sephora before I bought it and that’s what I did (after buying a few more things, one minute to my poor wallet).

#190 – For light to medium skin with warm undertones (the color that I tried)

I was immediately surprised by the number of colors and undertones available (50!!!)

The packaging reminds me of one of my favorite foundations – Guerlain Terracotta. It is a package that allows you to use the product until almost the last drop. The price is also nice, around 35€ and brings 32mL (more than the usual 30mL).

At first glance, I was surprised by the coverage – I don’t know if it’s just me but I have the feeling that matte foundations always have higher coverage, so I didn’t expect much coverage from this new hydrating foundation. The first impression at hand left me pleasantly surprised.

According to the information’s, the Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation is:

LONGWEAR, LIGHT AS AIR.

‘A first-of-its-kind hydrating long-wear foundation that delivers it all, with comfortable medium to full coverage, serious staying power, and natural finish perfect for normal to dry skin—all in a groundbreaking range of 50 shades’.

Recognizing the need for a hydrating Pro Filt’r formula that normal to dry skin types will love, Rihanna created this foundation with Grape Seed Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate to give skin the nourishing hydration it needs to stay comfortable all day.

What I think about it after using it for an entire day…

I absolutly loved how this foundation layed on my skin, it didn’t accentuated any fine lines on my forehead and smile and it didn’t caked at all. It blends so easly and it gave me a natural/healthy look. It looked flawless, not heavy and it looked really good on the pores.

After four hours, I still liked how my skin was. At this time I already had some ‘glow’ but I liked it. It looked natural and my nose (one of my problematic areas when it comes to hold foundation) still had product. I was glowing but in a beautiful way. It looked my skin but better.

After six hours, I cound’t hold it anymore and I had to take it off. My skin was dripping oil (the photos show it all). I’m so sorry that I looked like Joker in the photos but I was also testing the lipstick (spoiler, I ate, drank and kissed and it took a lot of time for it to looked that way..love this lipstick!)

After a little research at Fenty’s website, I discovered that this foundation can also be used in combo skin if you wish a natural finish, they only advice to use the also new Pro Filt’r matte primer on targeted areas where we are most oily.

I used it with the Fenty Pro Filt’r primer and probably that was one of the reasons why it didn’t hold more time on my skin. I don’t know if I used a matte primer or combined this Foundation with the matte one, the results would be different.

This Foundation made me really torn about my feelings for it, I loved it when applied but hated it after a couple of hours. I normally work eight hours and the way it perfomed, I cound’t used it on a work day.

Have you tried this Foundation? What do you think about it, let me know in the comments.
