Today we bring you one more post to things to do in quarantine. This time we selected nine young-adult books that turned into movies (some series) with huge success.
Forget the name young-adult because these books can be read by anyone at any age and we have to say that some are on our list of favorite books.
We didn’t forget blockbusters like Twilight, Hunger Games, Eragon or even Harry Potter! But we had to short our list and decided to cut these big and well-known books in this list (after all you had to be living under a rock to not know who Harry Potter is!)
With no more further due, here is our list with no order…
In this series, you will enter in a dystopian world, when Tris (the main character) has to make important choices that will change the faith of everyone and everything.
The mega success in books and movies shows the power of a choice. The choice that can change the future forever of so many people, living unexpected romances, powerful consequences, and showing the perks of a supposedly perfect society.
THE FAULT IN OUR STARS
One of my favorites movies, it made me cry and I’m sure the books are even better. usually, that is the case.
This book is irreverent, heartbreaking, romantic but also raw. It tells the story of a girl who has terminal cancer that found a boy that changes her forever.
TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE
This is a funny, comic, romantic series that will guide you through the love life of Lara Jean. She never had the courage to admit her crushes to the boys she used to love, but one day the letters where she wrote to all her crushes are mailed. She sees herself confronting all the past and needing to explain what was written through the sentences of the letters. Oh, the end had a shocking plot twist, that you need to read or see in the movies. The first and second movie are available in Netflix.
“Straight people should have to come out too. And the more awkward it is, the better.”
Simon is keeping a huge secret from everyone but when the secret is revealed, he has to deal with the perks and deal with everyone, especially his family.
THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER
This book tell the daily basis of being in a high school. I never read the book, but I saw the movie last year (shame on me, I know!) and I was expecting a movie about teenager and broken hearts…I cried my heart out in the end of the movie. The story is so good and captivating. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this movie.
CITY OF BONES
City of bones or more known as ShadowHunters, tells the story of Clary. A girl that though had a normal life, until one night she discovers that the world where she lives and her family are the opposite of normal. In the new world, she needs to fight against demons, fall in love with an angel, and decide who to trust.
THIRTEEN REASONS WHY
Original series of Netflix created by Selena Gomez, inspired by the original books. Who sees this series or read these books, it’s marked forever and will never forget it. At least I didn’t. I know people that don’t want to read or see because they know how heavy this is and they are right, it is. This tells the 13 reasons that made a normal girl put an end to her life and the consequences to who was involved.
THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS
I love these movies/books. They are so lightweight and good to see/read.
When a group of four friends finds one pair of jeans that is magical. Why? They have all a very different type of the body but it fits all of them and even looks like it is their lucky charm, because it saves them and changes for better the adventures where they put themselves. There are two movies and the cast is the same. YAH!
THE PRINCESS DIARIES
This is almost a classic. Put your hands in the air if you never saw these movies. I don’t see any hands ahahah
When Mia Thermopolis finds that she is a princess and even more it’s going to be the Queen of Genova everything changes. In the second book, she needs to find her prince charming (and how cute he is) but in the ending it shows that any woman can be independent and that she don’t need a King to rule her kingdom!
Let us know in the comments what is your favorite movie/book? And don’t forget to remind us if we forgot any book/movie!
